The Founding Family:
In 1940, James McMenamy graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Agricultural Economics and began farming full time. In 1943, James and his wife, Alice, moved to the location now called Legacy Ranch.
The McMenamys lived, raising cotton and their children on this farm for the next 60 years. Their home was constructed in 1949 to accommodate two children and was later added on to in order to accommodate three more. Trees were planted and grew, bearing pecans and limbs for children to climb. The backyard boasts what Reese pilots claimed was the tallest tree in West Texas, a simple Chinese elm.
For many years Mr. McMenamy saw in his mind's eye that Lubbock was headed his way. he knew the value of a home and hoped eventually to share his land with others who were of like mind.
